Under 8's win through to the prestigious EMJFL, 'Primary Cup' Final |
Marple Athletic Under 8's step their game up to another level in a marvellous semi final cup win against recently promoted Div1 side, Stalybridge Celtic JFC. In what was a breathtaking performance, Marples under 8's scored 8 goals without reply against a very good Stalybrige side. On the Staly website our team was kindly described as 'star studded'! Yes, on the day all 12 were stars. In all areas of the pitch our boys were in great form... Barca' would have struggled with us . (see match report) We now go through to play in the Final on Saturday the 5th of May, at The Curzon Ashton FC Stadium, on the grass Pitch, in the Stadium it self, in front of a crowd... kick off 9am, put it in your diary and come and support the boys!

Marple Athletic Under 8's In magnificent cup win. |
Marple's under 8's won through to the semi's of the prestigious East Manchester JFL Primary Cup, with a magnificent win against the highly rated Vipers. (see match report) This year the under 8's are hoping to go one step further than last year as under 7's and get through to the Final, the boys are playing some superb football at the moment and have beaten some stern opposition to get to the semi. We now meet newly promoted Staylybridge Celtic in the semi's, which should be another tough game. The boys have grown in stature (physically as well as metaphorically) over the 12 or so weeks since the beginning of the season. They have played in some great games against some very good opposition, the most exciting of which was the Primary Cup Quarter final against Reddish Villa, when unusually for us we were beaten 4-1 in the first leg (bit sleepy that morning), but managed to win the second leg 3-0 and took it to penalties... which we won 3-2 - talk about nervous (match report) The football has been incredible this season, we have a great bunch of lads and I for one am enjoying watching them play football and improve every week. Well done to all our boys.
