MARPLE UNDER 12s CUP WINNERS |
|
What a last few days for the Under 12's! On Saturday 12 May they played AFC Oldham at FC Hyde in the divisional cup final, after a thrilling match ending 4 - 4 in which Marple equalised in the final five minutes. Our captain marvel Chaz MacDonald then stepped up to smash home the winning penalty in a never to be forgotten penalty shootout. The game was played in great spirt against a very tough Oldham team . On the following Monday the boys followed up with their final league game of the season needing to win away to Brendon Bees to win the league but after running out of steam they finished second in the league to Oldham! It has a been a brilliant and unforgettable season which coaches, parents and players will remember for a long time, well done to all the boys we are very proud of you! John Marple Under 12's

As we reach the end of the season all the Marple Athletic teams have done well. The The Under 13s Sunday team frustrated the efforts of some of their rivals and enjoyed a season in Stockport Metro division two at fourth in the table. The youngest squads playing at Curzon Ashton are enjoyed their football and learning each week, lifting cups for the Under 8s and the Under 10s. The other short sided squads are also doing well at Wright Robinson in the East Manchester League. The Under 9s and the Under 10s have got off to a good start in the top divisions of that age group. In the Stockport Metro League the Under 11s have really got into their stride in 11-a-side football ended up at 6th in a very tough First Division. The Under 13s Saturday team have kept up the winning streak and finished fifth in the top division. More than anything though, this is a club that is committed to fair play, good behaviour and respect for the game. Enjoy!
